Re-using the view cone marker should fix the icons on the cursor. The only case which is currently known to us happens through the placement of the view cone marker in very specific situations. Some players encountered an issue where the icons next to the cursor won't switch anymore. Unfortunately, there is no solution for this. This was an already known issue to us which is based on technical restrictions that are not expected to be solved. Showdown Mode cannot be entered while climbing Isabelle becomes invisible when leaving the cage

Where in Shadow Tactics you would send Kuma to a destination somewhere on the ground, in Desperados III you need to target an enemy directly with the cat skill.
